Terry & Hazel Gostyn are preparing to host a reunion at Toronto's Glen Rouge campground Thursday 9 Sep to Sun 12 Sep 2010 if there is an interest to visit the Big Smoke!

This secluded and attractive campground is situated on the Rouge River and is part of the Rouge Park system (the largest urban park in North America). It is 2 minutes off the 401 and is handy for all the activities we are planning. This small park has electric & water sites with a dump at the office area. The larger riverfront sites are # 4 to 19. Details of the park can be accessed at http://www.toronto.ca/parks/recreation_facilities/camping/index.htm

We are guaranteed 10 sites but the park will not reserve any particular sites in advance. They will however work with us to put us as close to each other as possible.

We are suggesting activities as follows. If anyone wants to add any items let us know.

Thursday 9 Sep
Arrive & set up. Walk some of the Rouge trails then a welcome banquet at our favourite restaurant; The Black Dog Pub; just 5 minutes away.
Campfire. (each evening if the weather is suitable?)

Friday 10 Sep
A 1 hour cruise to Port Perry on scenic back roads. Port Perry is a quaint town on Lake Scugog with numerous interesting shops and restaurants. the Blue Heron casino is nearby!
OR
A day at the Toronto Zoo just a 10 minute drive or 1 1/2 hour hike up the river trail.

Sat 11 Sept.
Downtown Toronto. We will travel downtown from Rouge Hills GO station (10 minutes away) and walk from Union Station to Lake Ontario for a Toronto Island cruise or walk underground to the Eaton Centre (mega-shopping).

Sun 12 Sept.
Drive 5 minutes to Rouge Park beach and walk/bike a section of the waterfront trail.
Pot luck supper.

Mon 13 Sep Depart.

We have booked 10 sites and would prefer to limit the group to presumably 20 persons which would make our outings more manageable.

If you are interested e mail us directly at tg724@sympatico.ca (Please do not contact the campground directly). We will assign you a booking number and confirm with details later.

If we are oversubscribed we will create a wait list. If anyone would like to arrive early or stay late this should be OK. We will be in the park from Mon 6 Sep. Back to top
